ABOUT

Menopause and Perimenopause Care

Personalised, expert support to help you feel like yourself again.

Menopause is a natural stage of life — but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. For many women, the journey through perimenopause and menopause can be confusing, frustrating, and even frightening. Symptoms are often dismissed or misdiagnosed, leaving you feeling unheard and unsupported.

If you're worried about how you're feeling, unsure what’s normal, or simply want clearer answers, I’m here to help. I offer personalised, one-to-one menopause care that’s grounded in over 20 years of experience in General Practice — and enhanced by the highest level of specialist menopause training in the UK.

Why See a Menopause Specialist?

As an accredited British Menopause Society (BMS) Advanced Menopause Specialist, I provide expert care for women with complex or persistent symptoms — including those who haven’t found the right support elsewhere. Many clinicians have a general interest in menopause. But a BMS-recognised specialist has advanced qualifications and ongoing professional requirements that ensure they’re fully up to date and able to manage more challenging cases.

You may benefit from seeing a specialist if you:

  • Have tried HRT before but didn’t feel better — or felt worse

  • Have been told HRT “isn’t suitable” and want a second opinion

  • Have a family or personal history of hormone-sensitive cancer

  • Are experiencing early menopause or POI (before age 40)

  • Have other health conditions that affect your treatment options

  • Just want to speak to someone who really understands what you're going through

As a BMS Advanced Menopause Specialist, I:

  • Hold a nationally recognised menopause qualification (Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care)

  • See over 100 menopause-related patients every year

  • Stay informed through regular national and international conferences

  • Follow national and international best practice guidelines

  • Take a whole-person approach to treatment and care

When Does Menopause Happen?

Most women go through menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, but perimenopausal symptoms can start much earlier — and may continue well into your 60s. Every woman’s experience is different. For some, symptoms are mild. For others, they can be completely life-altering.

Common symptoms include:

  • Hot flushes and night sweats

  • Brain fog and memory lapses

  • Anxiety or low mood

  • Poor sleep

  • Fatigue

  • Joint pain

  • Irregular or heavy periods

  • Low libido

  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort

If you’re experiencing several of these at once, or they’re affecting your relationships, work, or day-to-day wellbeing, it’s time to get support.

What to Expect from Your Appointment

Your appointment is a safe, calm space where we take the time to talk properly. There’s no rush. You’ll be listened to, taken seriously, and supported every step of the way.

We’ll explore:

  • Your symptoms and how they’re affecting your life

  • Your medical history, family history, and lifestyle factors

  • What you’ve tried so far — and what’s worked (or hasn’t)

  • Whether HRT might be right for you, and the safest options available

  • How nutrition, sleep, movement and stress management affect your hormones and brain health

  • Any investigations that might be helpful, such as blood tests or bone density scans

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your options and a personalised plan — whether that includes HRT, non-hormonal treatments, or practical lifestyle advice.

More Than Just Hormones

Menopause care isn’t just about prescribing HRT — though for many women, it can be life-changing. It’s also about protecting long-term health, especially heart, brain and bone health, and helping you live well now and into the future.

Your brain health is especially important at this stage. Good quality sleep, a Mediterranean-style diet (rich in oily fish, vegetables, fruit, and low in sugar), and social connection all support cognitive function. Stress management also plays a key role — and practical tools like journalling, time-blocking, or using lists can be simple but effective.

If HRT helps you sleep better or feel more balanced, it may also reduce brain fog and fatigue indirectly. The right plan will always be tailored to you.

Who I See

I regularly see women who:

  • Are navigating early or complex menopause

  • Have had poor experiences with HRT or feel unsure where to start

  • Are worried about family history or other risk factors

  • Want a joined-up approach after years of bouncing between services

  • Simply want to understand what’s happening and what they can do about it

Some patients have had years of symptoms without getting answers. Others just want reassurance and a chance to talk to someone who understands the science, the options, and the reality of this stage of life.

Why Patients Choose Specialist Care

You might be here because you’ve felt dismissed. Or because you’ve tried treatments that didn’t help. You might feel like you’re just expected to get on with it — even though it’s affecting every part of your life.

That’s where specialist care makes the difference. You’ll be treated as an individual. Your concerns will be taken seriously. And you’ll receive clear, evidence-based support that’s rooted in experience and led with compassion.
